The Pergamon is a very interesting, must-see museum and always has a huge line with a very long wait time. Walk right by with this pass. And also the other museums.
Excellent tour! Everything you want to know about Egyptian Art and after and how Berlin acquired the art.Highly recommend this tour!
Excellent 3 hour tour of key points of interest in Pergamon and Neues Museums in Berlin's Museum Island (you also get an all day pass to all 5 museums for the price of the tour - we subsequently toured the Bode museum as well in the afternoon). Thomas, our guide (archaeology student from US) was excellent - he was knowledgeable and had some very good stories about various exhibits at both museums (which cover an eclectic range of time periods and civilizations, e.g. ranging from Assyrian to Egyptian to pre-historic German)
Our tour guide took us right into the museums past all the lines. Very knowledgeable and very worthwhile!
Jamie our guide was highly knowledge and made this tour a great time. Highly factual and detailed. A great half day tour
My husband and I recently booked this tour and Jamie was our guide. Talk about lucky! He is himself, a published archeologist, working actively in his field and was a wealth of information. Jamie was relatable and very likeable as well as interesting and knowledgeable. I am still pinching myself that we were able to see the bust of Nefertiti and the Gates of Ishtar! We learned about them so many years ago through a beloved high school teacher. It was amazing to see them in person! The back story on the reconstruction of the New Museum was fascinating. The tour was 4 hours but went incredibly fast. Worth every penny! We can't wait to come back to Berlin and do it again. Wear comfortable shoes.
The museum was absolutely wonderful and the guide was very knowledgable. This along with no waiting to get in made it definitely worth it for me.
What a great tour, and just a world class guide. So informative, this is a must do!
The tour was spectacular - possibly the best museum tour I have ever had - and it was all due to the very well informed, superbly educated and charming tour guide named Mike. Mike's enthusiasm for, and deep knowledge of, the works on display was contagious and I would readily repeat the tour but I would only ever do it again if Mike were again my guide. He has spoiled me for all future guides.
This is a wonderful way to visit the museums. Mike was a fantastic guide. Our group of 20 included 2 children. Mike was excellent with them and kept them engaged, quizzing them on certain aspects he had discussed. He was very knowledable about the items in the museum and was much more informative and interesting than my experience with audio guides. He kindly held up our start time for two late arriving guests, and then added that wait time and more at the end to assure us a quality experience. We were very pleased with every aspect of Mikes guide service!
Now this was in a different class altogether. we had a whisper system earphones and an animated tour guide. He knew his history, could answer any question and brought the history alive. This is a must do!!!
Mike Dempsey was just so great as a guide. Enthusiastic, great personality, and energy just oozed from him and you were back gently lead baci in time. Between his great insights and the fantastic exhibits, all this ancient history became real. Would recommend to anyone and everyone, just a joy and a great memory.
