This tour was so much fun! Claire was so knowledgeable and passionate about the tour, her country and the history of Romania. I have been to Bucharest four times and thought I knew the buildings but Claire pointed out the origins and the history of the building as well as life during the regime. I highly, highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in Romanian history! Claire is very easy to talk to and very open about her country. She presented facts not emotion in the tour. The tour was supposed to last 3 hours but we found ourselves talking on the streets for another half hour. It could have easily gone on. Go sign up and enjoy Claire's tour!
The guide was very nice and knowledgeable.
We had a delightful morning exploring Bucharest's communist past. Our guide was very animated, and gave us a new insight into life under communist rule. I learned a lot about the people of Bucharest during this dark time, as well as how Bucharest was irrevocably changed.
This was by far the most illuminating activity in Bucharest. Clare is a wonderful guide, warm and intelligent. She gave us a personal insight into her experience of Communist-era life, as a child and as an adolescent. She told us the positive and negative sides of the experience, for her and for her family. She is full of information, and tried hard to make sure we learnt and understood as much as possible. She encouraged us to ask any question, including personal ones. She met us at our hotel and dropped us back, and made last-minute adjustments to accommodate our interests regardless of the extra time.
This was my favorite tour of the three that I did in Bucharest. My guide met me at my hostel, and we walked to numerous sites. She was amazing. Having grown up during Romania's Communist Era, she had personal stories to share along with the historical facts. The tour was supposed to last three hours, but we talked while walking for four and one half hours. She tries to understand herself the reasons for what happened during this time period, and she offers positive and negative perspectives about this time during Romania's history, I highly recommend that you take this tour if you are interested in learning from a local about this time period and about Romania today.
This tour was amazing!
