Fully booked bus but no inconveniences with delays. The places we visited, Ston, Korcula and the winery ,were very nice and ,except in Ston, we have adequate time to see and wander. Perfect weather and dreamy landscape.
This trip was actually in 3 parts. The first was a stop at the town of Ston, where there are medieval fortifications in the form of small castle and an extensive wall system. The wall go up an over a nearby hill and can be walked. Then there was a boat trip to the Island and town of Korcula. The town is very small but very pleasant. It has several very old churches and town walls and towers. It is also reputed to be the birthplace of Marco Polo. Lastly there was a stop at a local winery for a tasting.
The trip to the island was very good and we stopped at another town with walls (Ston) on the way to the island. The wine tasting was fine, but rather short and at the end of the trop.
Nice day trip with beautiful scenery. Would like to return back to Korcula and stay there for a few days. Nice island for bike ride.
We opted to do this as part of our stay in Dubrovnik as we'd seen good reviews online beforehand and the price for the entire day was respectable. All in all, it was a good day out. There's a number of hotel pick-ups first which is to be expected. Travelled to Ston first which, personally, I thought was lovely. Would have enjoyed spending some more time there but we only had 25-30 mins as a coffee break. Next port of call was Korcula old town which is nice. It's a total tourist trap as it's all pretty pricey but hey I guess that's to be expected. Final part of the trip was the wine tour on the way back to Dubrovnik. That was really enjoyable and the wines on offer were pretty decent, especially the white. It's a long day with a lot of travelling. It's worth it though when you consider the cost against what you get to see. Only negative part was the tour guide, who started off well and then became pretty irritating. Her English wasn't great and she was really repetitive so I lost interest in Korcula where we ended up getting a 30-minute history lesson. Personally, I think we'd have benefitted better from having the extra time to ourselves but hey ho.
Too long After you see the walled old town of Dubrovnik, this is less than worth the visit. A lot of renovating is going on. Only one stop for tasting wine. Korcula is extremely expensive for lunch. We paid 720 Kuna for pasta, salad, one wine and one beer! - really gauging
This was a great trip just seeing Korcula Island. Our bus guide really wasn't very pleasant, but our English guide on Korcula was awesome! Korcula is amazing! The salt museum on Ston was a flop! They run a video in a shack with a couple of dumpy chairs, the rest is your own. We needed a little extra time to enjoy a coffee and explore the fortified walls on Ston... but it was a quick stop. As for the wine tasting ... it was a joke... not enough seating for everyone on the bus, and we only sampled two wines from a local winery. Very disappointed in the tasting and the wine.
We wanted to get to Korcula for a day. This was the perfect solution as opposed to a 14 hour day using the ferry. We got picked up from our hotel at 8, had an informative guide and good bus driver, over 3 hours in Korcula and some wine tasting on the way back. Very relaxing and back in Dubrovnik before 6. Highly recommended if you are short of time.
