Begin your waterways tour of Vietnam upon pickup from your Hoi An accommodation and transfer by comfortable coach to a local fishing village. Next, meet your friendly and safety-minded captain and crew aboard the boat as you embark on an eco-tour of the region, cruising along the Cua Dai River. As you explore the tranquil waterways flanked by mangroves and coconut palms, hear about the extreme conditions once endured here by soldiers on both sides of the Vietnam-American War. Your guide will share interesting facts and anecdotes about the impact of the war on the nearby communities.

Then, join local fishermen and women on the river and take part in several interesting hands-on activities that are fun and safe for people of all ages. Be entertained by your crew as they make whimsical hats, flowers and animals from palm leaves. Try your hand at casting a round net and raising giant drop nets from shore – you’ll appreciate how hard the fishermen work as you learn these traditional fishing techniques.

Afterward, put on a lifejacket and jump into a Vietnamese bamboo basket boat, learning to paddle this unique boat from your comical crew. Once you’ve got your buoyant little boat skimming across the water, you’ll be ready to join the excitement of a basket boat race!

Back aboard your eco-friendly tour boat, dine on a scrumptious seafood lunch cooked by your captain. Enjoy dishes like stuffed squid, baked fish and Vietnamese rice pancakes with a cold beer or a soft drink before returning by coach to your hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Everything went smoothly and we were treated exceptionally well by the staff, right from pick up when met by the guide Sing, who was very friendly, exceptionally knowledgeable and regularly bringing a smile to our faces with his wit. A cool trip around the herb garden that was very interesting, a quick ride on a water buffalo which was enjoyed. Then a relaxing and interesting cruise around the waterways of Hoi An River. The basket boat ride was a hoot and our kids really enjoyed the treats supplied by the crew. Some fishing attempts with the local nets wasn't so successful, but fun to try. Then a lovely sumptuous meal provided by Captain Cook. Brilliant. A great day, despite the weather being less than ideal and simply made by all the staff, their enthusiasm and energy. A great trip to do as a family.

Wow. What a fantastic experience. The pick up at the hotel was prompt and the guide ,Sing, was very informative. It was so good to experience a snippet of village life and to have a turn at fishing Everyone involved (and there were quite a few) were absolutely brilliant. As for the food-- we have voted it the best food we had on out trip- and we had some great food. It was fantastic . Highly recommend this half day experience.
