Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary Tour from Kuala Lumpur
1 day
Lisätietoja aktiviteetista
Departing from your hotel at 9am, our first stop out of the city is at the iconic Batu Caves in Gombak. An important place of worship for Hindu devotees in Malaysia, this natural attraction is made up of a series of limestone caves said to be more than 400 million years old. The towering golden statue of Lord Muruga is regarded as the tallest statue of a Hindu deity in Malaysia. Guarding the entrance of the main cave it glints ethereally against the cloudy sky. Two cave temples called Art Gallery Cave and Museum Cave are also contained in the main complex, as well as a Tamil school, several souvenir shops and vegetarian eateries.
After, continue to Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary, which was set up by the Malaysian Wildlife Society. It's the base of the Department of Wildlife and National Parks Elephant Relocation team, which assists in the capture and relocation of rogue elephants from across Southeast Asia.
Begin with a 25-minute video documentary on the National Parks Elephant Relocation Team’s conservation activities and programs in an air-conditioned audio-visual theater. The informative presentation allows us to have a better understanding of the work conducted at the center, the duty of the team’s trained elephants, and the responsibility of the rangers when they are out in the field conducting wild elephant relocations.
Then, take a 5-minute walk to the elephant enclosure where five rehabilitated elephants are kept. Learn about the important role the elephant sanctuary plays in ensuring the survival and well being of these majestic animals, and observe the elephants as they're cared for my professionals from the sanctuary.
Your tour then concludes with a drop-off back at your accommodation in Kuala Lumpur.
Please note: A minimum of two people per booking is required.

Such a great day and washing the baby elephant such a highlight!!
Tour guide to pick us up was late. Supposed to arrive by 9AM. Did not arrive until 945 AM. We arrived at the DEER farm first. The deer farm was not open, the driver told us oh I guess it must be closed today'' so we didn't get to do that. So we continued to our elephant sanctuary. The lunch was rice and chicken, nothing too special. We then proceeded to the film, which we were late too, so we only saw the second half of the film. So the start of the day wasn't that great! Needless to say we then got to the elephants which was very nice. We got to feed them, however you have to pay 3 in order to get a small amount of food to feed them. After that we watched a short show and then you had the oppurtunity to bathe with the elephants, again you have to pay 10 to bathe with them and 50 for a tour guide of the site. After paying over 100 each for the tour wasn't too sure why we had to pay to feed the elephants, get a tour guide and pay to bath. Nice day, overall unimpressed with late driver, deer farm being closed and having to pay additional for everything once there.
The tour guide was grate, he was very nice!! On the tour we were only 4 people so it felt like it was personlized since the tour guide was very focused on making our expericene an amazing one.
