The Plaza Mayor is located in the center of Madrid, a few meters from the Puerta del Sol square, and next to the main street.

It is presided over by two of the most important buildings in the capital: its western outline is delimited by the Royal Palace and the eastern one by the Royal Theater. Its northern face is made up of the Real Monasterio de la Encarnación, which was expropriated from the Priora's Garden to be integrated into the plaza.
