Enjoy a full day to explore Australia's oldest zoo at your own pace with your admission ticket to the Melbourne Zoo. As you wander through the open-air exhibits, you’ll get to observe some of the world's most fascinating creatures. Snap pics of your favorites and discover new ones!

In the zoo’s new walk-though Lemur Island exhibit, you can watch charismatic ring-tailed lemurs scrambling about. Then head next door to the Gorilla Rainforest: home to gorillas, pygmy hippopotamus, and tree-dwelling apes and monkeys. At Baboon Lookout, watch the baboons play, groom one another, and search for food on their grassland savannah.

For more great apes, travel into the treetops on an elevated walkway to observe the orangutans. They rarely come down from the trees, but this exhibit lets you watch them up close as they climb, swing and eat, far above the ground!

Next, you can walk through the magical Butterfly House, where hundreds of colorful native butterflies flit around you in the lush vegetation of the tropical glasshouse. If you want to check out the creatures of Victoria’s coast, dive into the Wild Sea exhibit and watch native penguins at play. Australian fur seals and pelicans that were injured in the wild also live here, along with Port Jackson sharks, seahorses, fiddler rays and lots of fish.

Want to see what it takes to work at a zoo? The Keeper Kids play space will show you the ropes! Little kids will also love the Growing Wild interactive exhibit where they can patrol like a meerkat, burrow through tunnels, and climb into giant tortoise shells.

When you have worked up an appetite, have your choice of several restaurants (own expense) where you can snack on a meal and relax.
