Meet up with a knowledgeable guide in Seville and head out of town to one of the most historic places in the country, the Roman city of Itálica. Located in the Lower Guadalquivir River valley, halfway between Seville (Hispalis) and Alcalá del Río (Ilipa) and very close to the routes that connected to the mining zones of the Sierra Norte of Sevilla and Huelva, Itálica played an important strategic role in both politics, military and economic matters during the height of the Roman Empire.
Established in 206 A.D. when the general Publio Cornelio Escipión (Scipio) decided to create a place for wounded soldiers in the battle of Ilipa against the Lusitanians, Itálica is full of history. Learn all about the Roman Empire and their control of the region from your guide, then explore the ruins for yourself.
See the gorgeous mosaics in the House of the Planetarium and tour the amphitheater and Trajan monument. Then visit the largest of the thermal baths, the gym, a former bread oven, two restored Roman houses, and remnants of city streets.

We heard that there's a historic part of Sevilla that was used for filming Game of Thrones, and decided to go see. We booked this tour to ensure we learned the history of Sevilla, and some modern info as well. Thanks to our guide, we enjoyed the tour and learned a lot as well. Our guide was easy to understand (we speak English and just a little Spanish) and a very nice guy. He obviously knows the history of Sevilla well, he even has a college degree in history. Our guide made the tour so interesting, that we forgot about the weather (hot!) and took lots of pictures. And he was nice enough to give us a ride back to the city (not included in the tour). Sevilla is a lovely, authentic Spanish city with a rich history. We can't wait to go back again, and I would definitely recommend taking advantage of a tour like this, especially with this guide.
This tour was really phenomenal! And our guide Javier was great! Javier was personable, professional as well as extremely knowledgeable about everything this tour had to offer. We really enjoyed seeing this interesting and historic landmark and learning all about it. We would highly recommend!
Our guide Miguel was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the siite. The ruins of the amphitheater are quite nice in that a significant portion of the building survived. There are also some very fine mosaics to see. If you've seen Pompeii or Ostia you'll probably wish there was more to see.
Wonderful place to visit and an excellent tour guide who explained the layout of the city and its history really well. To get to the meeting place at the front of Italica catch the M17OA bus from the city bus station. It runs about every half hour and Italica is the last stop as the bus turns around - very obvious. Highly recommend this tour.
Greta tour. Great guide
