my Guide was very kind helpful and polite. I enjoyed walking and looking to all water green/black rocks plants and butterflies I understand the fact of more demand better service. I was the only participant with the guide so we were 2. At first I thought there will be a fixed route and schedule for the trip. I discovered at then that whats mentioned in the offer was too big to be achieved in 8 hours. Then instead of 30 kilometers we only did 10 k.M. We could not' even have time for rest relaxation and have lunch. The left was very dangerous because it does not stop but people jump on the exposed car. . At the same time I would suggest the following: A- arranging for the trip to be only 3 days a week so numbers of participants could be more in every one.B- 1- new itinerary 2- less kilometers for hiking 3-a mix between car walk and relaxation 4- a flyer that shows what is included and what is not included. 5- visiting the 3 residential uphills of the mountain by car/bus.
It was wonderful. My guide was extremely knowledgable about both the mountain and Bulgarian history. The hike was challenging and hugely rewarding. The scenery was stunning. I highly recommend it.
I was hesitant to book a solo day hike for such a high cost, but I really wanted to hike Vitosha so took the plunge. I'm glad I did. The tour was fantastic. But even better was my guide, whose name shamefully on my part eludes me at the moment. :- We started out hiking up to the Boyana waterfall which was a treacherous scramble in parts, but nothing too serious and well worth the effort. We then took a slight detour as I was curious if we could get up over the falls and we got a nice early panorama of Sofia. From there, we hiked to another peak and had lunch. My guide was aces and had prepared tea and sandwiches and snack bars. Plus, as we got further up it obviously got colder and he had extra gloves and jackets. Just super prepared which was beyond appreciated. I've been on these types of excursions before and sometimes you can get a pretty blah guide but this was the exact opposite. Very friendly and informative and helpful. Anyway, we finally get to Black Peak which is where it gets pretty serious. The last stretch is a haul. But I'm closer to out of shape than in shape and I managed, so I reckon just about anybody can. Be warned you get a mile up so the weather is pretty wacky. It was in the low 70s in Sofia but up there there was snow and the wind is whipping and we got hammered by hail on the way back. But that's all part of the fun really. The best bit is when you get to the summit there is a nice cozy shelter with a little shop/cafe where you can unwind and have a nosh and drink. 10/10 tour highly recommended. Mind you it's not just a little stroll this was an all day hike, about 10 miles and 30k steps was what I totaled. But totally worth it.
The guide is really nice! i have a great trip!
