Stop At: Jewish Ghetto, Calle Ghetto Vecchio, 1139, 30121 Venezia VE, Italy
The Jewish ghetto of Venice is a distinct historic area that was once home to more than 4,000 people at its peak in the 17th century, when the Jewish residents were relegated to a specific neighborhood. Today, the area remains an important spiritual and social gathering place for Venice’s Jewish community and is also known locally as an authentic part of the city off the beaten tourist track.
Meet your guide in the Jewish Ghetto, which lies within the Venice’s northern Cannaregio neighborhood. Learn about the area’s history and culture as you wander its charming streets, passing by synagogues, kosher eateries, unique shops, an open-air market and a traditional mask-making workshop.
Stop in at three different bàcari to get a taste of the local dining scene. Your guide will select from among the neighborhood’s many authentic and reputable bars. Sip on a glass of local wine at each stop, served with bite-size cicchetti. These traditional Venetian appetizers may include savory bites like bruschetta, salted cod, meatballs or fried squash. Learn about local cuisine and the Veneto winemaking region as you soak up the authentic flavors and atmosphere.
After approximately 2.5 hours, your tour concludes near the Campo della Maddalena, with easy access to the Grand Canal. Your guide can point you in the direction of your hotel or provide local recommendations to continue your Venetian culinary adventure on your own.

Lara is very genuine and knowledgeable. She is a resident and passionate about her love for Venice. We went to several local eateries. Fun time!
We went on this tour with Chiara on our first night in Venice. We had an excellent experience. Chiara's stories were informative and fun (and we also enjoyed the tasty food and meeting other visitors). It was a great night and helped us feel more confident traveling through the city over our next few days. Thanks again for the adventures and the awesome seafood cicchetti!
It was the second visit for us in Venice. We enjoyed this evening and were really impressed about historic facts of this district.
Guide was lovely. The Jewish Ghetto itself is incredibly small, so much of the tour was near or around the area, as opposed to everything being inside the Ghetto and focused on the jewish history.
This tour was not good. Way too much walking and not enough food or wine. The food was OK at best. Not enough explanation about why this food was chosen or about the history of how it pertains to the Venetian culture. The last food option was anchovies, not a dessert, literally leaves a bad taste in your mouth?? Wine was provided 3 times. Again, no explanation about what we were drinking. The only choice was white or red. No options within this group or a local variety. All 3 wines were very small in size. Do not waste your time or money on this tour.
THIS was one of THE BEST, FUN, INFORMATIVE tours we have ever taken. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour
Honestly, not worth the steep price. The guide was very soft-spoken and without headphones we could not hear her most of the time. The tour was not well organised and at each stop someone had to wait too long for drinks / cicchetti. She never did explain what the Jewish Ghetto had to do with the wine. The ghetto history that I could hear was very interesting. The evening views of Venice from each location were breathtaking.
